Prolom banja

Prolom Banja spa is located in southern Serbia and lies at 550 to 668 m above sea-level. It is 23 km from Kuršumlija, 290 km from Belgrade and 82 km from Niš. Prolom Banja can be reached by taking the Belgrade-Niš highway and then the main road between Niš and Rudare. Because the moderate continental climate and dense vegetation have a positive effect on the human body, strengthening the immune system, Prolom Banja is considered a health resort not just for its waters but its climate too. Prolom Banja has several thermal mineral water springs (ranging in temperature from 26 to 31.5°C), which are lightly mineralised and highly alkaline. Owing to the composition of the water (a large number of different minerals in small quantities), it has a pronounced diuretic and bacteriostatic effect. Prolom Voda water is odourless and pleasant tasting, and is also recommended for healthy people. The spa's therapy block has a daily capacity of 1,500 patients. Spa treatment involves drinking medicinal water, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, electrotherapy, kinesiotherapy and massage. Ultrasound for precise diagnosis and laser therapy are also available to guests in the therapy block. All forms of therapy are performed under the supervision of medical personnel. In Prolom Banja the following are treated: - kidney and urinary tract diseases (chronic kidney, urinary tract and prostate infections, kidney stones, stones in the urinary tract, conditions following urinary system operations) - diseases of the digestive organs (hyperacid gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, intestinal catarrhs, chronic constipation, inflammation of the gallbladder and bile duct, gallstones, conditions following operations on the digestive organs) - skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis and varicose veins) - diseases of the peripheral blood vessels and extra-articular rheumatism A special Beauty Care programme, which includes bioelectric toning of the facial skin, complex cellulite therapy, full body massage and Bioptron light therapy, is performed in Prolom Banja. Organised trips to Đavolja Varoš (Devil’s Town), a unique natural phenomenon created by erosion, Kuršumlija and nearby monasteries are possible.
