Mataruška Banja spa is located in central Serbia, on the right bank of the Ibar river, and is surrounded by the slopes of the Stolovi and Čemerno mountains. The spa is set in a park over 15 hectares in size and stands 215 m above sea-level. Mataruška Banja is 180 km from Belgrade and 8 km from Kraljevo. The spa can be reached via the main Belgrade-Kraljevo road and the Belgrade-Niš E75 highway via Kragujevac, as well as by rail (the Belgrade-Kraljevo-Skopje line). Mataruška Banja has a moderate continental climate. The mineral water springs, which have a temperature of between 42 and 51°C, are rich in sulphur (25 mg/l). Treatments are performed in the Mataruška and Bogutovačka Banja Natural Health Resort and the Agens Specialised Rehabilitation Hospital. In Mataruška Banja the following are treated: rheumatic diseases (inflammatory rheumatism, systemic connective tissue diseases, degenerative spinal column and connective tissue diseases, extra-articular rheumatism, gynaecological diseases (primary and secondary sterility), posttraumatic conditions and associated problems (injured and broken bones and joints, muscular hypertrophy), neurological diseases, that is damage to the central and peripheral nervous system (limb paresis and limb plegia, multiple sclerosis, lesions of the intervertebral discs and post-surgery conditions, diseases of the peripheral blood vessels (Buerger's disease, atheromatosis, arteriosclerosis, varicose veins) Mataruška Banja has facilities for sports training (football pitch, small sports fields and swimming pool) and staff holidays, conferences and school excursions. The Stolovi, Čermerno and Troglav mountains are havens for walking, hunting and hiking and the Ibar river has facilities for fishing, swimming and rowing. In the surroundings of Mataruška Banja there are several significant cultural and historical attractions such as the Žica and Studenica monasteries and the mediaeval town of Maglić.
