Description:
Boljevac is a municipality within an interesting area of the valley of the Black Timok, between the Kučajske mountains, Rtanj, Tumba, Slemen and Tupižnica. For true lovers of the “untouched” nature, Rtanj represents a real oasis of health that easily attracts its fans. Hikers, climbers (free climbers), adventurers, hunters, fishermen, but also herbalists all come here. From Rtanj you can see Jastrebac, Malinik, the Kučajske Mountains, Boljevac area…Particular treasure of this place is the endemic Rtanj violet used for the preparation of famous Rtanj tea. It grows only in the central zone of Rtanj, and is harvested in August, when the herb pickers gather here from all over Europe. On the slope of Rtanj, there is Lozica Church from the mid-14th century. It is important to mention the Lapušnja monastery (1501), and the Church of Saint Elias in the town itself.
