Gallery of Contemporary Fine Art from Nis, was founded on 9 june 1970. A prominent cultural and public workers of Nis and other centers of the former Yugoslavia were involved in the formation and operation of the Gallery. The first acting director was prof. Dr Lazar Trifunovic, and the first president of the Council of professor Ivan Tabakovic . On first october 1975, a decision was made on the integration of the Gallery and the Museum and by 1980 operated as a department of contemporary art at the National Museum where Gallery again become independent institution.
Gallery of Contemporary Fine Art has three exhibition areas:
- Gallery "Serbia" Trg kralja Milana broj 13;
- Pavilion in the Fortress, a former Turkish arsenal;
- Salon 77, Bali Bey Mosque in the fortress of the 1523rd
Every year, Gallery of Contemporary fine Arts organizes about forty exhibitions of contemporary art by domestic and foreign as well as the manifestations like Art Colony "Sicevo 's and Graphic Workshop" Sicevo ".
In addition to the exhibitions, deals also with the museological, publishing and educational activities.
Fund of Galleriy of Contemporary Fine Arts has more than one thousand five hundred works of art, housed in the depot. Within department workshop for conservation and restoration .
